When you’re in need of compassionate mental health care, you deserve genuine openness from a therapist who strives to be your advocate at all times. I look forward to being that advocate for you, learning more about who you are as an individual while exploring the ways we can achieve your collaborative goals together. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner with more than a decade of experience, I help adults navigate challenges posed by depressive and anxiety disorders as well as assist with processing and treating trauma and grief that individuals have experienced throughout their lives. My goal is to make in-depth inquiries and connections that get to the root of your struggles and build the skills needed to overcome any obstacle. I'm passionate about helping redefine the past and instilling hope for greater mental wellness. That’s why my method is centered around openness and grounded in the idea that you are not broken and needing to be "fixed." Instead, we use your life experiences to heal and explore the person you would like to be. In our time together, you can expect a kind, casual, and inquisitive environment when exploring your symptoms and history. I operate with a person-centered, Rogerian approach, using the concept of "unconditional positive regard" and a conversational style, so you feel understood in a non-judgmental way and at ease when discussing difficult history. I have served the Denver community as a psychiatric nurse practitioner based in mental health for the majority of my career. During this time, I had the honor of treating a wide number of diagnoses and severities of symptoms across ages, backgrounds, and socioeconomic hardships. These experiences taught me just how nuanced mental health care truly is, allowing me to see a person not as "one diagnosis," but to take into account their entire history, relationship dynamics, and values to best tailor treatment, leading to greater well-being. When I’m not in my therapist role, I am a hobbyist woodworker and woodturner. I enjoy building and tinkering with models, as well as other creative outlets like cooking and baking sourdough bread.

Life is full of unexpected twists and turns that can throw us off course. That’s why it is important to carve out the time to talk through what’s going on and to thoughtfully plan next steps. I specialize in supporting those who have been diagnosed with an eating disorder, experience disordered eating, or struggle with body image issues. I have extensive experience working with those who struggle with anxiety, depression, grief, low self-esteem, and stress. I wholeheartedly believe everyone deserves respectful and supportive care, no matter your body, shape, size, race, religion, gender or diagnosis. My passion lies in instilling hope that recovery and wellness is possible – and worth it! It would be a privilege to walk alongside you as you navigate this journey.

I draw from person-centered care, treating anxiety through mindfulness-based therapy, and evidence-based approaches including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). I especially enjoy working with college students navigating career and life transitions, as well as adults experiencing anxiety, depression, or Bipolar II Disorder. My style as a psychologist is warm, collaborative, and grounded in kindness, while also making space for humor and lightness when appropriate.

College can be an exciting time, but it can also bring new pressures, uncertainty, and challenges. I work with college students and young adults who are navigating ADHD, anxiety, depression, academic difficulties, life transitions, and questions about identity and belonging. Whether you are struggling to keep up with the demands of school, wondering if ADHD or autism may be affecting your life, adjusting to greater independence, or exploring your gender or other aspects of your identity, I provide a thoughtful and affirming space to better understand what is happening and what may help. My approach begins with listening. I take the time to understand you as a whole person rather than rushing to a diagnosis or treatment plan. Depending on your needs, I offer comprehensive psychiatric assessment, therapy, medication management, and adult autism evaluations. Together, we can develop a plan that supports both your mental health and your goals for the future.

I believe that with the right support we can make small intentional changes to create a satisfying life. I am committed to helping clients feel understood and respected. I help clients identify strategies to alleviate symptoms, modify problematic patterns, and develop effective coping skills. I provide compassionate care and tailor empirically supported treatments. I primarily utilize mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapies and strategies informed by dialectical behavior therapy. These therapies provide symptom alleviation, are well established treatments, and have long term benefits. I have experience and success treating anxiety disorders, unipolar and bipolar depression, self-harm behaviors, low self-esteem, emotion dysregulation, grief, and difficulties associated with navigating transitions. Lastly, I conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations for specific learning disabilities, ADHD, and complex mental health disorders. We live in a world full of things that can make life feel like a challenge. Stress, anxiety, adverse experiences, and complicated relationships can make it difficult to feel motivated on the day-to-day. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process, and that the role of the therapist is to help clients feel safe and supported so that together we can address whatever a client may bring into session. I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches, including EMDR and hypnotherapy, to address trauma, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, relational concerns, exploration of gender and sexuality, and more. I am licensed to practice in both Nevada and Colorado to see individuals, couples, and families ages 6 and up. If you are feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, or looking for someone to help you make sense of whatever you are struggling with, I am happy to assist! Please reach out to schedule an intake or consultation to see if I am the right therapist for you.

Hi! I'm Allison. I'm here to help you with the stress, overwhelm, and anxiety you're feeling as you try to lead the life you want. If you're tired of being REALLY hard on yourself and you want to start letting go of that and be more content with who you are, reach out. I'm anti-racist, LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergence affirming, and I'm ready to support you. I see clients in person near I25 and Colorado in Denver or by telehealth. My goal is to meet you where you are and understand what you want to work on – you’re the expert on your life but I can help you see it differently and make the changes you want. That might include coping strategies, looking at your needs, strengths, and values, using brain/body techniques like Brainspotting to release uncomfortable emotions, and more. I always start with the relationship because you can’t work with someone you don’t trust. I am calm, focused, and empathetic, and I still have a sense of humor. I’m always authentic (and I’m not always the textbook therapist) and I give you the space to be the real you. I’ll see you, I’ll accept you, and I’ll have your back as you make the changes you want. Reach out today for your free 30 minute consultation! You can call, email, or text.

I enjoy the experience of witnessing my clients release traumatic events from their core. I know and understand, as I have been there myself, what it feels like to feel weighted down by events/emotions that are no longer in existence. I help my clients release these combinations of events and emotions that no longer serve them.

Clinical Social Work/Therapist

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 25 years experience, I fully appreciate the importance of finding the right match with a therapist who can offer a compassionate and professional approach to navigating life's challenges. I embrace what may be very painful difficulties as opportunities for positive growth and problem solving, while holding sacred the courage and curiosity it takes to embark upon a very personal therapeutic journey. Being a student inevitably includes personal transformation and growth, not to mention stress and the need for problem solving skills! Getting support, be it brief in nature, or for longer-term emotional regulation, can be invaluable during times of such transition. I offer particular expertise in such areas as: treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma recovery, healing from past abuse/victimization (particularly sexual abuse), and EMDR Therapy, in addition to addressing life transitions, the impacts of social injustice and oppression, and overall stress management and relationship restoration.

I believe issues in our lives arise from a lack of connection to others and to the internal parts within ourselves. Once we strengthen these connections and resolve inner conflict, we are able to reach a state of feeling more integrated and authentic. You are the expert of yourself and I will honor that in our work together. As a counselor, I view my role as walking next to you while you process the areas of your life that are troubling you. We will know you have gotten what you needed from our work together when you feel empowered to navigate your life's challenges confidently.

The students we work best with are often the ones who look like they are doing fine. You are getting the work done and showing up, but you are tired in a way sleep does not fix, and there is a low hum of dread that never fully goes away. Many of them were the ones who always did well before, so struggling feels like admitting something. What comes up most: anxiety that was manageable at home and is not manageable here, being far from family and not wanting to worry them, a relationship taking up more room than your classes, and family things that did not stay behind when you left. Our therapists are licensed across eleven states, so if you are at school in one and your family is in another, we can usually keep going over the breaks instead of starting over. In Colorado, sessions are by secure video, so you can meet from anywhere in the state. Evening times are available when they open up. You do not need a diagnosis to come in.
