Hi! I'm Elise and I'm so glad you're here. Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and I'd love to support you through it. I work with individuals and couples who are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of why the same patterns keep showing up in their lives or relationships. Maybe you're navigating the stress of college, anxiety, self-doubt, family and relationship challenges, or a big life transition. Maybe you and your partner are finding yourselves having the same arguments, feeling disconnected, or struggling to communicate the way you'd like. Whatever brings you in, you don't have to navigate it alone. I strive to create a space where you feel comfortable being yourself—where you can laugh, cry, and explore the hard moments. Together, we'll make sense of what's keeping you stuck and work towards creating relationships with others and yourself that feel more connected, authentic, and fulfilling.

You may be struggling with worry or navigating new experiences. Perhaps a recent or older traumatic experience is impacting your life and it can be debilitating. You may feel alone and worried about whether or not you will ever have relief. Oftentimes, you might feel isolated from those you care for; feel lost and uncertain; unsure if you can have a quality life. You can navigate this with a therapist who is able to build a strong therapeutic relationship anchored in trust and safety. I have been able to help many as they embark upon a journey of health addressing some of their greatest fears in order to improve their standard of life and grapple with the anxiety and trauma holding them back. Also, I am a black queer therapist if you are looking for representation in your care.

I have over 10 years of experience working with hundreds of college-age clients from all walks of life. With my background as both a special education teacher and college and career counselor, I enjoy helping clients explore their identity, increase self-confidence and autonomy, and overcome fears (or whatever else is blocking them from living well). As a therapist, most of the clients I see experience OCD, anxiety, and neurodivergence. I tailor treatment to my clients’ individual needs and create a warm, supportive environment in sessions where they can truly be themselves without judgment.

I was raised in a commune-style farm setting in rural Pennsylvania, and earned my BA from Middlebury College and then my MA in counseling psychology from Lesley College. I am currently pursuing her certificate in Modern Psychoanalysis at the Academy for Clinical and Applied Psychoanalysis in Livingston, NJ. I am a mother of three and a longtime practitioner of yoga, meditation, and Jin Shin Jyutsu (Japanese acupressure). These practices inform my interest in the well-being of the whole person. I provide a safe and comfortable space where you can explore the parts of your life that you value and also the parts you may want to change. My approach is to cultivate a sense of curiosity and kindness while supporting you in saying whatever is on your mind. As we put our thoughts and feelings into words, we tend to grow more comfortable in ourselves, even in the midst of discomfort. We may find ourselves in more positive relationships at home, at school, and at work. We may find more clarity about how we want to live our lives. Whether in person or online, I see the therapeutic process as a catalyst for reflection, exploration, self-understanding, and personal growth. Together, we will work to understand the richness of who you are and resolve whatever is getting in the way of achieving your personal and professional goals.

My role in our work together is to help you look deeper into your most pressing problems, and to assist you in working towards solutions that fit your life. I am happy to consult with you for just a few sessions, or to spend more time digging down to the roots of your struggles. I am passionate about helping you get unstuck from difficult patterns or situations, through coaching in relational skills, coping, and emotion regulation. I have seventeen years of experience with psychotherapy and brief therapeutic interventions, in public high schools and at the University of Colorado counseling center, as well as in private practice. I am trained in numerous modalities of treatment (see my website for more info.) I look forward to the opportunity to support you and strategize with you as you move towards a more authentic and grounded way of being in the world. My style is collaborative, warm, and empowering. I believe in the power of real human connection. Everyone deserves to feel heard, understood, and valued exactly as they are. My style is warm, client-centered, and grounded in curiosity. Alongside open dialogue, I use evidence-based approaches like ACT and DBT to help you manage anxiety, build stronger coping tools, and navigate life’s curveballs. I work with adults (18+) facing big transitions: starting college, figuring out who you are, exploring relationships and sexuality (including LGBTQ+ identities), or feeling stuck between worlds. As a bisexual therapist and someone who’s moved across cultures, I get what it’s like to question where you belong or how to move forward. I also support clients dealing with health challenges, athletic injuries, sexual health, chronic illness, eating disorders, and body image concerns. Outside of therapy, you’ll find me adventuring in the mountains. I see therapy a lot like a tough hike: challenging, sometimes uncomfortable, but deeply rewarding. I’m honored to walk alongside you as you find your own path.

Psychologist

As a practicing psychologist for over 30 years (and a short time before that as an attorney), I understand the importance of having someone to speak with about our worries, questions, changes and even our daily lives. I see adults and adolescents who seek support in navigating stressful situations and not only reaching resolution on that issue, but also learning about themselves in deeper ways. I listen closely and with an open mind. I'm supportive and encouraging and help you make connections to patterns that can rework things you would like to change and do differently. Whether we are working on immediate problem resolution or exploring family/social dynamics, it's important that you feel understood, heard and supported in session. It's also important that you have direct, clear feedback that is experienced as helpful and insightful. Not every session is likely to be groundbreaking, but together, we can work toward defining and reaching your therapeutic goals.

I am a licensed clinical social worker and addictions counselor with eleven years of experience working in mental health and addictions. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, life transition issues, and addiction. I work primarily with adults and young adults. I specialize in working with LGBTQ+ teens and adults navigating gender, sexuality, relationships, identity, and the emotional weight that can come with living authentically. My approach is warm, relational, and trauma-informed. I am a psychotherapist in Boulder, Colorado and have spent my career working with people to find solutions, move towards recovery and create positive change in their lives. My focus is helping you to figure out the path forward to improve your quality of life. That might mean finding emotional stability, processing trauma, creating personal growth, or improving relationships. I have worked with college students, both undergraduate and graduate students, for the last 10 years at the University of Colorado Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS) doing individual, group and couples therapy. Upon starting private practice, I intentionally found an office close to campus as I hoped to continue working with students. I love working with students on the challenges that come up in college and grad school such as adjusting to college and academic stress, processing issues that you may have hoped to leave at home, or working through new experiences or traumas that are causing distress. I seek to provide my clients with a safe and non-judgmental space in order to move towards emotional health and stability. I specialize in EMDR trauma therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Mindfulness based treatments to help with trauma, anxiety, depression, mood disorders and feeling stuck in life.

Before opening my practice, I worked in community mental health and at CU Boulder's Counseling and Psychiatric Services Center. I work primarily from a contemporary psychodynamic lens and utilize a wide range of techniques including Internal Family Systems, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, narrative therapy, interpersonal/relational therapy, Self psychology, and Motivational Interviewing. I spent much of my adult life working in Emergency Medicine as a Paramedic before going to the Physician Assistant program at Loma Linda University in Southern California. After graduating from there in 2018, I spent the past five years working in addiction medicine in a residential treatment program in Boulder, Colorado. Working in addiction medicine, I commonly assisted adult patients, of all ages, dealing with anxiety, depression, cravings, withdrawal symptoms and sleep challenges. Patients would often come to me wanting to reduce their amount of medications to just what was helpful and necessary and I would take a lot of pride in helping them achieve that goal. Genetic testing provides a helpful tool to initially choose, change or adjust a dose of a particular medication. I believe that it is important to meet an individual where they are in the healing process and to address the whole person rather than just the presenting problem or symptom. To address the “whole person” requires getting a detailed history and a partnership between patient and provider. Establishing such a partnership gives me great joy.
