We will focus on what you want out of treatment and help you achieve your goals. In addition to general psychiatric care, I offer specialized care in reproductive psychiatry, trauma, and sex therapy. Are you navigating life between two worlds, balancing family and cultural expectations with your own sense of self? Perhaps you're a child of immigrants, first-generation, or someone far from home asking deeper questions about who you are and where you belong. I'm a bilingual (English/Tagalog) psychotherapist specializing in depth-oriented, Jungian therapy. I work with Filipino Americans, Asian Americans, immigrants, and first-generation individuals doing the meaningful, sometimes difficult work of building an authentic identity, one that honors where they come from while making room for who they are becoming. My approach is exploratory and relational. Drawing from Jungian psychology, psychodynamic therapy, and somatic awareness, I work with the unconscious patterns, cultural conditioning, and intergenerational stories that shape your present life. This includes dream work, active imagination, and close attention to the body's wisdom alongside the mind's. If this resonates, I'd love to connect. I offer a free 15-minute consultation — reach out and let's talk. I also offer Walk & Talk therapy for clients in the Cupertino and Silicon Valley area - sessions conducted outdoors in nature for those who find that movement supports their process. Ask me about it when you reach out.
Do you find yourself feeling stuck or with the sense that you are just going through the motions and simply existing? I can help guide you to participate more fully in life and reach your maximum potential. We will work collaboratively to increase self-awareness, identify recurring patterns, and minimize maladaptive behaviors through the use of coping skills and resources at hand. With insight, confidence and tools in hand, you will be better equipped to effectively navigate through various road bumps in life and stop getting in your own way. I'm very collaborative, directive and strengths-based in my work with clients. I work with adults, couples and families to address life challenges related to mood & personality disorders, addiction & dependency-based issues, building positive relationships and cultivating self-worth. I have an eclectic approach, utilizing several different modalities to suit each client's needs, including evidence-based practices where applicable. It is common for ambivalence to be involved when facing any kind of life decision or transition. A CBT, DBT and motivational interviewing approach can allow me to meet a client where they are at and help each individual gage their own level of readiness for change. You've taken a huge step just by seeking out therapy. Now let's go on this journey together!

I believe that healing and growth happen when one is truly heard. As a therapist, I strive to provide a safe and nonjudgmental space to support this process and help you move past fears and obstacles that may be getting in the way of your success and happiness. I specialize in helping adults navigate life transitions as well as stress, anxiety, depression, and trauma related to issues of identity, self-esteem, relationships, school, and career. Together, we’ll work towards goals such as deepening self-awareness, overcoming unhelpful patterns, learning effective coping methods, cultivating self-acceptance, and building emotional resilience. I am particularly interested in working with diverse populations, including 1.5 and 2nd generation Asian Americans, BIPOC, and expats. As a native New Yorker and second generation Taiwanese-American, I’m especially attuned to issues of belonging and marginalization, and the complexities that arise from navigating intersecting identities and conflicting expectations, wants, and needs. In addition to being trained and licensed as a mental health counselor (LMHC), I have completed post-graduate work in psychodynamic therapy at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Somatic Experiencing®, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR). Counseling is a brave space for clients to explore their experience, rewrite their narratives, and build stronger relationships. I also believe in a holistic approach to therapy to ensure all aspects of a person’s life are considered. Through my own mental health journey, I have learned the significance of collaborating with mind, body, and spirit. As a Black woman, I understand the need to provide mental health services to Black and minority communities, and to help eliminate negative stigmas about mental health for people of color. I am a sex-positive individual, who encourages identities outside of heteronormativity. I aim to help clients embark on their own wellness journeys and to cultivate a quality of life that reflects their personal values, cultures, and beliefs. I will use elements of DBT, Somatic, AEDP, Narrative Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing modalities to individualize treatment for each client’s specific needs and goals. I strive for a therapeutic relationship that can be the foundation for continual healing and growth, where learning takes the forefront and challenging discussions are encouraged. I am passionate and open to hearing my client's individual stories with fresh eyes, allowing them to connect and share their authentic selves in a non-judgmental environment.

My ideal clients are students who have a tremendous reservoir of resources in managing their school-work life balance, despite having experienced a traumatic incident in their life. These students are often those who have experienced a sexual assault and noticed that it has made it difficult for them to stay on top of their workload, connect with others, and more. Other students I enjoy working with are those who are explored their identity in terms of sexual orientation, intimate relationships, and gender identity. These types of students are often very insightful and want to share their thoughts on a safe and non-judgmental atmosphere.

I am the best fit for those with a history of interpersonal trauma, relationship or family challenges, adjustment issues, and/or anxiety. Many individuals that I see are feelings stuck in a relationship--with themselves, a parent, a sibling, a partner, a colleague, or a friend. I support clients to gain more awareness around the ways that their histories, thoughts, and feelings inform their relationship patterns and then support them with tools to adjust those patterns were needed. I also believe that healing happens through reparative relationships--between therapist and client, with our loved ones, and with ourselves. As such, I seek to relate to my clients in a transparent, deeply human, and sometimes humorous way. In this way, I hope to act as a template to empower them to practice relating to others and themselves differently so that their needs can be honored and met.
