You've faced so many challenges, and trauma has a knack for taking over everything. Maybe you try to keep busy to escape from it all, but most of the time, it's all-consuming. Your work or studies suffer, because you can’t concentrate. Your relationships are affected as well. It can be hard for others who haven't experienced similar struggles to truly understand you and what’s happening for you. Even for you, finding the right words to articulate it all can be tough. This makes connecting with others a bit more challenging. But trauma doesn't have to be your whole story. It doesn't have to consume your days, thoughts, relationships, and work. Even the trauma that stems from marginalization and oppression doesn't have to define you. Therapy can be where you separate out what has happened to you, from who you are and want to be. It can provide a space to discover peace, clarity, and even moments of joy amidst life's challenges. My passion lies in supporting survivors of interpersonal trauma, particularly those who have experienced child abuse, as well as individuals who face the daily impact of systemic oppression, including BIPOC, LGBTQAI+ individuals, and those who and those who navigate the complex intersections of marginalization. As a biracial Asian and White woman, I daily I navigate the hurtful impacts of racism and sexism in our world. Being multiracial allows me to see the world from different angles, and I appreciate both the difficulties and advantages it brings. I am 3rd-generation Chinese. I carry within me a deeply personal understanding of the burdens of generational trauma and the stress of acculturation within my family. However, I am aware that my experiences are limited to my own point of view and I don't assume to fully grasp how similar experiences have affected others. I approach everyone I meet, regardless of our similarities, with humility.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, I believe that the best approach to therapy is a collaborative, integrated model that meets the needs of the person sitting before me. As your therapist, I am here to learn about you – your experiences, relationships, and insights – to help you understand different themes that may be contributing to your current stressors. In order to get the most from the therapeutic experience, I strongly believe the patient has to be an active participant in the work. Together we will assess the best steps to take based on your personal strengths and abilities. My hope is that through our work you feel more confident, secure, and connected to yourself, your relationships, and your goals. To reach these goals, I incorporate various evidence-based practices to help guide our work such as CBT, DBT, interpersonal therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and motivational interviewing. These tools will allow us to explore how patterns may be impacting your life and provide opportunities to identify your strengths. This information will be the foundation for our work to grow upon knowledge and skills to help you reach your goals. If you are open to learning more and ready to engage therapy, please reach out to me today for more information.

Activated By Wellness “walks the talk,” and speaks to the real world problems and everyday roadblocks that so many today are faced with. In that light, Activated By Wellness is committed to the health and well-being especially of marginalized people, including BIPOC, LGBTQIA individuals, young adults struggling with social and familial pressures, veterans suffering from PTSD and reintegration, anyone looking for strength breaking generational patterns that no longer serve them, and those who in some way have been left out, othered, or persecuted for their perceived difference. We are also a space that is committed to the health and well-being of our allies who have a desire to move through old patterns and blocks, and perhaps also wish to positively affect change in the world. Whether activists, veterans, college students, and more, we are all facing some very challenging and painful personal as well as societal issues, and yet what we share in common is an openness to try new ways of growing, sharing our gifts, and achieving our goals. I specialize in work with older teens & young adults, including young professionals and college students. I specialize in treatment of anxiety, depression, panic attacks, social anxiety, self esteem, stress related to “perfectionism,” & stress from life transitions— being a new high school student, college student, or a young professional comes with many sudden life changes, & you don’t have to navigate this period of your life alone. I prioritize the therapeutic relationship & believe it’s the small things that create this alliance; you’ll notice how I remember those details you told me because what you say is important to me! Each person’s treatment is approached uniquely because each person is different in their own special way. I aim to be thorough in my sessions & strive for each session to be a resting place. I offer down-to-earth talk with my clients about their concerns. I believe you will find the therapeutic process to be nonjudgmental and insightful. With me,the pressure to “be a certain way” is off. I often use a therapeutic relationship-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) framework in my sessions to equip you to help take charge of your struggles. In the end, we are all human and many of us suffer with mental health concerns. We should never feel ashamed over this. I encourage you to reach out.

You can be managing everything and still not be all right. Anxiety that stays a step ahead of you. Anger that comes out sideways. Overthinking that never resolves anything. A life that still functions but doesn't feel like yours. Name one and the rest tend to follow. The patterns behind this are usually old. They made sense once, and they were how you got through something. Now they arrive before you've decided anything, and they hold on. Noticing them is what loosens them, even when it doesn't feel like progress. How I work is introspective and practical: ACT, CBT, and mindfulness based approaches, shaped by Taoist philosophy. I pay close attention, I don't push, and I say what I notice. This isn't another project to optimize yourself out of. Over time something shifts. You stop bracing so hard. You trust your own read more and need to control less. You get kinder to yourself, which quietly makes you kinder to everyone else. Life stops feeling like something to manage.
