Co Mental Wellness
Hey, I'm Maddie. I'm a therapist who specializes in helping young adults navigate the overwhelming parts of life—anxiety, depression, relationships, identity questions, and all the "what now?" moments that come with this stage of life. Here's the thing: Being a young adult today is hard. You're dealing with massive decisions about your future, trying to figure out who you are, managing relationships, and handling pressure from every direction. Maybe you're struggling with anxiety that makes it hard to focus or make decisions. Maybe you're feeling depressed and just going through the motions. Or maybe you're questioning everything—your major, your relationships, your path forward—and need someone to help you sort it out.

"Resilience is based on being able to accept ambiguity and find hope amid uncertain conditions." This notion, shared by Dr. Pauline Boss, is one that is central to my clinical practice. We all have points in our lives when stress, change, or loss, may leave us feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or unsure of what lies ahead. The opportunity to warmly welcome clients into my office to re-gain their center, tap into internal resources, and nurture the development of new strategies is one I welcome each time I meet someone new. Rocky, my therapy dog, provides an added level of comfort for clients.
Dr. Caitlin Tycz
I primarily use cognitive-behavioral and humanistic approaches to meet my clients where they are and support their growth. I value the unique experiences and needs of my clients, and I describe my approach to therapy as collaborative and flexible. I enjoy working with college students, athletes, and folks in transitional periods of their life. In particular, I enjoy working with clients with concerns related to adjustment, self-criticism and perfectionism, self-compassion, anxiety, depression, experiences of trauma, chronic health conditions, and identity development. I strive to foster an inclusive and compassionate environment to support growth and change. I am currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Metis Center for Psychological Services in Lafayette, CO. I received my PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH and my BA in Psychology from Yale University in New Haven, CT. I draw from my prior research and experiences as a Division I athlete and Olympic Trials qualifier to support athletes at all stages of competition and development. I completed my Pre-Doctoral Internship at University of Nebraska-Lincoln Counseling and Psychological Services. I have clinical experience in a variety of university, private practice, and outpatient settings. Outside of work, I enjoy exploring new restaurants in the area, being active, and spending time with my husband and our dog.

Many students have mental health concerns from time to time. We feel stuck or face certain challenges. Sometimes we know what’s wrong and other times, we have the nagging sensation that something feels “off.” It can be stress, anxiety, depression, or academic pressures. When we understand the causes of your troubles, we can alleviate your symptoms. And, when we do, you’ll feel renewed and be a better student, friend, romantic partner, son or daughter. When your desire for your own welfare overrules your limiting beliefs and negative self-talk, what you aspire to starts flowing into your lives—be it a relationship, academic success. Your manifestations become effortless, without internal strife and resistance.

I see therapy as such a gift to oneself when trying to make sense of one's identity, relationships, and purpose in this world. My clinical focus is on helping people cope with depression, anxiety, and stress during life transitions to remind my clients of their strengths and how these strengths can help them not only cope, but also celebrate these new chapters in their lives. I have extensive experience in health related issues, acculturation stressors, and on parenting stressors. I strive to create a space of safety that helps my clients feel heard and understood. I am bilingual (Spanish) and bicultural (Ecuadorian descent). I use an interpersonal approach to help people explore how their roles in their relationships throughout their lives have impacted their identities, thought patterns, and abilities to have their needs met throughout their lives. I use an eclectic approach including interpersonal therapy, aspects of CBT, ACT, EDMR, and EFT.

People seek therapy for many reasons, to make changes or process difficult experiences. My goal is to help you better understand yourself and it is essential to me that you feel heard and accepted in our work. Then we can explore together the changes you want to make in your life and how I can support you to enact those changes. You are the expert in your life and I want to help you move in a direction that feels best for you. I honor the range of identities (gender, ethnicity, sexuality, etc.) and strengths that you bring to therapy. My approach to therapy is collaborative, warm, and active. I enjoy working with a variety of concerns, but most often work with food and body image concerns, gender identity development, anxiety, issues facing college students, trauma, depression and relationship issues. I also provide gender affirming therapy and gender confirmation support letters. Therapy tends to be most successful when clients feel empowered to ask questions and share feedback. I offer a free phone consultation to see if I would be a good fit for your needs. I look forward to supporting you in your personal exploration and growth.
