I work with young adults who are feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, stress, perfectionism, self-doubt, or the pressures of college and early adulthood. You may be struggling to feel confident in yourself, navigate relationships and life transitions, or cope with past experiences that continue to affect you. My approach is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed, helping you better understand yourself, build self-esteem, and feel more in control of your life. I offer EMDR when appropriate, with in-person sessions in South Pasadena or online throughout California. Bilingual therapy is available in English and Spanish.

Starting college can feel exciting—but also overwhelming. Many students I work with struggle with the transition to greater independence, academic pressures, and the challenge of building new friendships and relationships. It’s common to feel anxious, down, or unsure of how to balance it all. In our sessions, I create a supportive space where you don’t have to figure everything out on your own. Together, we’ll work on understanding and managing stress, easing anxiety and depression, and navigating the ups and downs of college life. Whether it’s handling the workload, dealing with homesickness, or managing new romantic and social experiences, my goal is to help you feel grounded, confident, and better equipped for this chapter in your life.

I center my work on supporting LGBTQIA+ students navigating identity concerns related to gender and race. Using DBT, ERP, and solution-focused approaches, I also help with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and life transitions. I understand how substance use, relationship challenges, and emotion-regulation struggles can intersect with marginalized identities and amplify feelings of not belonging. My goal is to offer a warm, affirming space where you can bring your full self, build insight, and move toward meaningful change. At Inclusive Insight Psychotherapy, we believe connection is where we heal. My pronouns are he/they.

Do things feel off track and overwhelming this semester? Procrastination, imposter syndrome, lack of academic focus, feeling socially awkward, breakups, friend drama, existential fear of what comes after graduation, family conflict, relationship communication breakdown, feeling like everyone else has it together but you, roommate boundary issues, school/work/social out of balance? Yep, that sounds hard. Let's talk. While I do specialize in the treatment of anxiety, ADHD, eating disorders, and life transitions, there may be additional or underlying challenges that cause you to feel frustrated, unmotivated, overwhelmed, ashamed, or sad. Whatever your struggles, together we can help you better understand what’s going on and what may be getting in the way of change and feeling more like yourself. My approach to our therapy will be goal directed, and the strategies and techniques that we will utilize are research based; CBT, ERP, mindfulness, to name a few. You will leave each session with action items, and we will work together as a team. I will bring to our work substantive training, many years of practice, patience, empathy, curiosity, and reliability. ACCEPTING CLIENTS IN: CALIFORNIA, COLORADO, FLORIDA, TEXAS

As a Black woman who is often seen as "having it all together," it may be challenging to admit that you are having a difficult time. You may automatically say that you are "good" or "well" when people ask how you are doing but know deep down that this is a mask of how you are really feeling. Recognizing and admitting to yourself about the mask is the first courageous step to getting support. Even though many of us have been told to not let our guard down by showing others that we do not have it all together or that only "crazy" people who do not look like us go for therapy (not true!), you know what you need for yourself.

I take a dynamic approach, helping others through developing the courage and confidence to build new skills, change unhelpful views of the self, and increasing insight and understanding and acceptance of where you are, while working toward where you want to be. The more open and willing you are to share, the better we can work together to come to a shared plan, view of the problem and work toward more distress tolerance. I use practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, validation, insight, socratic questioning, breathing exercises, exposure therapy, mindfulness, and shame resilience to helping others overcome cognitive and emotional obstacles toward improving the view of the self or creating behavioral change. I am a therapist at Octave, a behavioral health practice creating a new standard for mental health care that’s both high-quality and accessible. Hi! I'm Laura. I work with folks from all walks of life who are looking to build (or re-build) their connection to themselves and others. My clients tend to struggle with anxiety, people-pleasing, self-worth, perfectionism, exploring their identities, attachment trauma, and relationship issues. I work within an intersectional perspective to cultivate a space that is inclusive and welcoming to all so my clients can feel safe to embrace vulnerability and explore themselves deeply. If you decide to work with me, we'll examine parts of your past, challenges in the present, and hopes for the future while honoring your intersecting identities and natural strengths. I'll hold space for you to cry, vent, make jokes, or swear — while helping you to deconstruct unhelpful patterns, dismantle perfectionism, set healthier boundaries, heal past wounds, and embrace your most authentic self. My approach is modern and eclectic, integrating EMDR, cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, and narrative techniques with psychodynamic, feminist, existential, and humanistic theories. This means I draw from multiple modalities to personalize your care based on your needs. Through both research-based techniques and being a real + approachable human, my goal is to help you find clarity and healing while creating meaningful and sustainable change.

Feelings of stress, anxiety, depression, and grief are part of life, but when they begin to interfere with work or relationships, it may be time to connect and seek support. I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist with a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology. After receiving my Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, I spent four years working in PR within the entertainment and nonprofit industries. This experience gave me an understanding of the many stresses intense careers cause and the importance of developing coping skills, strong interpersonal communication, and emotional intelligence to maintain a healthy well-being and thrive in a fast-paced workplace. I am passionate about helping individuals struggling with eating disorders find recovery using a Health At Every Size/Intuitive Eating perspective. We will examine the underlying issues and maladaptive beliefs that perpetuate your eating disorder and work on healing your relationship with yourself. I work with young women, adolescents, and individuals to help them lessen their burdens and embrace their newfound freedom using a blend of theoretical orientations. I enjoy collaborating with my clients on what works best for them to help them meet their goals and am committed to creating an inclusive environment in my practice.
