If you are struggling with any of these, you are in the right place...people-pleasing, inner criticism, addictive behaviors, trauma, challenges setting and enforcing boundaries, worrying what others think about you, challenges in relationships, low self-esteem, worry of failure, high self-expectations, overfilling your plate and stress, detachment from self with substances, food, work, people, etc., and feeling powerless and alone. And, here you are seeking help, which takes courage. I recommend trying out multiple therapists to find the best fit, starting with consultations. Contact me for a 20 minute consultation, free of charge. Through compassion, authenticity, validation, and creativity, I create a protected space for healing, expression, and self-exploration. I also use mindfulness, expressive arts therapy, strength-based, and trauma-based approaches. I have a life-long commitment to social justice and I continuously work towards cultural humility. I am cis-gendered Chicana/White & LGBTQI with a lived experience of healing & recovery. I believe the therapy process involves forming a relationship with someone who you can share with and trust. A third party who wont judge you, or share/gossip your most intimate secrets or life struggles with others. It's nice having friends and or family to share with, but that isn't always an option, nor is it always safe. I provide my clients with an environment free from judgement where you can let your guard down, vent, share and just be you. Therapy doesn't mean there's something wrong with you, it means you're ready to grow and better understand yourself, others and hopefully life. Isn't that what we're all striving for?

During challenging times, people often feel defeated and focus on what is wrong. I want to shift the focus from what is "not working" to identifying what is "working." We will work to uncover patterns (behavioral, thought beliefs, relationship), that will lead you to making better decisions. I want to offer a safe place to process thoughts and feelings around issues that can be challenging. I am interested in helping people who experience stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief/loss and challenges with relationships (social or romantic). Many conversations are around “adulting” and how to manage life, career, relationships, etc. I teach clients how negative thought patterns/language effect mood and behavior. Narrative and Solution Focused therapy assists in shifting from self-defeating language/thoughts to a positive life narrative. I utilize CBT and teach the basics of how thoughts effect behavior/mood. I teach ACT concepts- to learn how our emotions and thoughts are related. I teach mindfulness to help with coping.

I offer straightforward help with anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. It starts by developing a holistic understanding of your situation and history. With that shared perspective, we'll work together to find the best way to resolve your current challenges. Our work together may involve finding a kinder way of relating to yourself and more effective ways of connecting with others and getting their support. If it requires developing new skills, I offer help through mindfulness, breathing practices, biofeedback, relaxation, and thought management. I'm confident that by learning to think and act differently, and addressing obstacles to change, you will gain more control over your life and start feeling better.

Nida Mirza
I see mental health as part of one's overall wellness. My approach focuses on having fewer negative emotions, and also on more positive emotions. I offer tools that research has demonstrated are very effective for reducing suffering. I also assist you in seeing meaningful, practical change by compassion, warmth, and empathy with a bit of humor. However, there is no cookie-cutter approach. We work together, openly, to customize your treatment directly to your needs and strengths. I frequently work with POCs, high-achieving students and professionals, folks in major transitions, and those coping with imposter syndrome, perfectionism, procrastination, and worrying. I have a particular skill in working with women, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals and people new to therapy and welcome your questions!
